It really was promising

Carrying on from my last post, I’ve attended the CanNET meeting and Boy was it good.

It was a small turnout(four people and the facilitator) but the 2 hours we spoke for flew by; with lots of information passed around, with concerns and recommendations given for everything the facilitator asked us about.

I really had a lot to say about my experiences and the lack of support for people of my age and situation.
One of the big things that looks like I’ll be apart of is the production of a kind of Road Map that Doctors can give out to people who have just been diagnosed in my shire to assist them in finding out how to gain support from local and state based programs.
It sounded really good because I know when I was diagnosed I had no-idea what was available to me in my shire and I had to find these things out myself and most of them after I’d finished treatment.

We all talked about a few other things but seemed to be on the same wave length about the lack of things in the shire so it seems that I’m not the only one noticing these things, which is good as it might mean some changes or restructuring of things for other members of the community.

Overall it was well worth the time spend and I’ll be getting a copy of the report when it’s done and also offered up my time for more communication with the researchers, so I might have some more comments to make later down the track.
