Just My Words

Looks Promising

Will be attending a meeting run by CanNET tomorrow in my town and had a really good chat with one of the team members what will be attending.
She was asking me some preliminary questions so they had an idea of who would be attending and what side of the Cancer street they are from.
Some of the questions were pretty straight forward, age range, location, Cancer type(s) and then when she found out about my two years of Cancers she said what everyone else seems to say when I tell them I had two bouts of cancer in two years, “You’ve had a rough trot” which is something I’m starting to get used to hearing and agreeing with.

Then she asked me if I had any extra assistance during and after treatment to which I replied, Nope nothing, no extra bits or bobs unless they came and saw me in my room at the hospital I didn’t have any outside support during or now after unless it was from my GP and that wasn’t a lot either.
She ahh’ed a few times and then went on to how far I had to travel for my treatments, and that perked her interest when i said that 100% of the time I had to travel around 2 hrs to and from home to get treatment, as all of my appointments were in the City.

Finally she asked me if there was anything I would be interested in as a carer of a person or was it for my self that I was attending and I said it was mainly for myself and then added that I was very interested in the lack of support for people my age with cancer and the lack of local support groups.

So over all things might be interesting tomorrow, I hope to get some good information and also give some good comments and I really really hope that it doesn’t get railroaded in to more about one cancer and less about overall.
