I was very impressed to see while reading News.com.au about a high fashion line’s decision to start catering to the larger women leona_sizes_up .
The idea that a designer has seen the light and made it known that they will be upping the size range they creat their clothes for is a step in the right direction in my books. For years I’ve been 16+ and in the last year I’ve now become a proper “16-18″ size range and the whole idea of buying pretty clothes that fit me and look good on me is something I’m really enjoying.
But sadly enough walking in to only a select amount of shops when I wasn’t a size 18 was hell. MySize, CityChic, Autograph where all good, the range was nice, the colours where depatable at times, but what got me was the price. It was very rare that I could buy more then two things and have change out of $100.
Now that I’m smaller the amount of things I can buy is getting bigger and that $100 is starting to get me home with more items, but these are still from shops that have “special big ranges” unlike it seems what Leona is planning, they say in the artical that the clothes will be the same as the smaller sizes, just Bigger.
Brilliant, I’m not sure about one of the dresses when it’s made bigger, I myself would look like a giant roll of life savers, but it’s the thought that counts. Oh and sadly I wont be buying anything from the online store, being the cheap arse that I am, I really can’t justify spending $300 on one item, now if it make me breakfast and washed itself then maybe I will buy a $300 dress.

It is about time that the fashion industry woke up and realised that over half of all Australians are overweight and that making clothes only up to a 14 or 16 is pretty pointless.
I longer for the day when decent looking clothing is made for women of all sizes. It is terrible that once you hit a size 18, you have to graduate into wearing a brightly coloured striped tent and you have to pay twice the amount for the pleasure of wearing it.

Yes it’s sad and that most of the bigger fashions really don’t suit either.

It is unfortunate that in order to buy plus size clothes one usually have to settle for tents gone mad in the spring time . I dont know why so many plus designers seem to think that plus size women love purple and yellow flowers, often together, gasp! It is a smart decision for fashion houses to cater to plus size women and spend time and effort on developing stylish and smart clothes in plus sizes, what is not smart is to ignore more than half the population

100% agreement with you there, it’s really great to see more fashion houses doing this, but one thing lately that I think is a little out of whack is what fashion people class as “plus size” I see in the latest America’s top model a plus size girl won, and she was a size 6, to me that is no where near plus size.
